Kyma's Chief Technology Officer Dr. Jacob Leach will attend the 2018 Compound Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology (CS MANTECH) Conference and will present an update on Kyma's large area free standing GaN substrate development activities.
Kyma's paper is co-authored by Qromis and is entitled Towards Manufacturing Large Area GaN Substrates from QST® Seeds. This paper summarizes recent developments in the hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE) growth of thick crystalline GaN on 150-mm diameter QST® seeds followed by removal of the seed to create 100-mm diameter free-standing GaN substrates. A roadmap to manufacturing 200-mm free-standing GaN from 300-mm QST® is also presented in support of the manufacturing of GaN devices in large volume 200-mm diameter wafer fabs.
This paper will be presented as Poster 14.17 on Thursday May 10th and represents an update to and a natural follow-on to Kyma's November 13, 2017 press release.
Dr. Leach is also a co-author on another CS MANTECH paper which is entitled Growth of 50mm Beta-Gallium Oxide (β-Ga2O3) Substrates which will be presented by Air Force Research Laboratory's John Blevins as Paper 13.5, also on Thursday May 10th.
The Technical Program for CS MANTECH is available online.

CS MANTECH is a not-for-profit organization whose focus is to provide a forum for members of the compound semiconductor community to exchange and discuss new ideas to better serve the public in general. We accomplish this through an annual international conference on Compound Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology. The conference is comprised of technical papers, talks, workshops, and manufacturer exhibits and is open to anyone who is interested in the latest advances in compound semiconductor manufacturing and device technology.
